The Process

Free Consultation
The process begins with a couple of preliminary steps. The first is a phone interview to get acquainted and determine what we think our time together will look like.

Evaluation
Our first session together will include introductions, discussions that stem from the consultation, and an appropriate evaluation to determine our strengths and weaknesses.

The Plan
After we know where we are and where we want to go, I will spend the week devising a learning plan that is highly-specific to the student. To start, that usually includes focused attention to two subjects outside of homework: one that the student chooses and one that the evaluations or grades tells us is a struggle. The plan is subject to a three-month sprint process that includes: a reevaluation and adjustment as needed.

M.F.A. in Creative Writing
Minnesota State University
Focused on developing writing skills and knowledge of the craft. Through workshops, seminars, and individualized instruction, I was able to enhnance my writing abilities and develop a unique voice. The coursework, specified instruction, and teaching undergraduate writing courses helped to further develop strong critical thinking skills, the ability give and receive constructive feedback, and a deep understanding of the writing process.
2011-2014
B.A. in Mathematics
Simpson College
Coursework included calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, theory, and statistics. Outside of the core curriculum, I had coursework in computer science classes including SQL, Python, and the ethics and conduct of creating and maintaining database systems. In addition to coursework, I participated in tutoring, thesis-research and defense, and the International Mathematical Contest in Modeling.
